Lasers engrave by firing many pulses each second. The frequency of firing combined with the speed the laser travels over the item control the depth of the engraving.

The following materials can be laser engraved:-

  • Acrylic
  • Anodized aluminium
  • Cardboard
  • Crystal
  • Glass
  • Leather
  • Mirrors (we engrave through the back of the mirror)
  • Plastic (except polyurethane based plastics)
  • Rubber
  • Stone
  • Vinyl
  • Wood

To see some examples, checkout the laser engraving gallery. We also do laser cutting.

Lasers can also mark metals. This marking is as durable as the metal being marked. The surface is covered in a special paste and lasered. The heat of lasering causes the paste to bond at an atomic level with the surface. The following metals are suitable for laser marking:

  • Brass
  • Pewter
  • Stainless Steel (suitable for use in high temperature, acidic, and caustic, environments)
