Diamond Drag Engraving

A tip with a diamond is pressed onto a surface and dragged to produce a line. The diamond spreads the material as it is dragged. Text as small as 0.9mm can be engraved this way.

This engraving method is used to engrave:-

For most names & dates, and some jewellery, we use pantographs. These work by tracing letters on a brass stencil with a stylus. As the stylus traces, a tool with a diamond tip copies the stencil. The size of the engraved text is changed by adjusting the length of connecting arms between the stylus and the tip.

Jobs that require detailed artwork, or large production runs are done on computerised engraving machines. For this we use vector artwork.
