Artwork Types
There are two types of computer artwork, vector and raster (bitmap). Vector artwork is made up of a series of lines, like a dot-to-dot picture. Raster artwork is made up of dots, like a photo. Vector artwork can be enlarged and still look sharp. This means artwork that is used on a small badge can also be used on a large sign.
For some types of engraving, and all cutting, we require vector artwork. This is because diamond drag engraving, routering, and cutting machines follow a line. Vector artwork is made up of lines that our machines follow.
If you can, send us vector artwork in the .svg format. You can create this artwork using free software. We can also use photos and web images. We use PC based CorelDraw X4 for setting up artwork for engraving. There is a small one off charge for the setup of artwork. We will give you a quote for artwork setup before starting work on your order.
